Skins=Wins mate. Basically its to show off and makes your gameplay feel better. Its like asking why do collecters get old and useless shit. Its because to the community it feels like gold. On cs go it makes you look more skilled than others and more of a pro.

To be completely honest, at first I was actually making profit. But then I think I was on a 30 round losing streak. From 435.000 csgodouble coins to 0 in about 30 mins, and then I just kept buying more and more coins.
