Thought we better have a thread for all the summer Olympic sports that don't normally have dedicated threads of their own. Triathlon, archery, canoeing, rowing, modern pentathlon, weightlifting, judo, taekwando, wrestling etc.
To bring everyone up to date on some things that have been happening:
Rowing - the first World Cup of the season was held in Sydney the weekend before last. Not many of the European teams travelled, and there didn't seem to be any Brits at all involved.
Triathlon - the first races of the 8 race World Series took place in Auckland NZ at the weekend. Great result for Team GB in the women's races, Jodie Stimpson was first, Helen Jenkins was third. Non Stanford, last year's champion did not compete. The men's race was won by Javier Gomez - Johnny Brownlee was second, Alistair Brownlee did not compete. Next races are in Cape Town in three week.
Weightlifting - The European Champs are going on in Israel this week. Already a good result for Zoe Smith, who got her first bronze medal in the women's 58kg class - only the second time Britain have ever had a women's bronze medal. She almost gave up the sport when she lost her funding after London 2012, but fortunately the funding people showed a bit of common sense and found some money for the women's team. She is still only 19, so is obviously someone who deserves to be looked after.
