Why do people from the US think so poorly of Canada?

I don't think we do. I think we envy Canada in most ways besides the socialism.

In most aspects, Canada is pretty great. It's quite beautiful in some places too.
Most people I've met online and face-to-face don't think poorly of Canada, but there is the occasional joke about them being nice and apologising too much.

Makes sense, the amount of socialism here is a bit annoying at times. Like the healthcare is nice and everything, but my family never smokes or excessively drinks and we have been to the hospital once since we moved here for my father and that was 15 years ago. Then there are families (such as my ex's) that is full of alcoholics and smokers where they go to the hospital at least once a month. Very frustrating paying in a society for people who do not work.

Oh, makes a lot of sense. I guess Americans can be very patriotic and will always think best of their own country. But Australia is very much like Canada, I have citizenship in both countries and there aren't many differences besides the snow!
