Should felons be given the right to vote?

I thought this would be a somewhat interesting subject to bring up.
I believe that it could be good, but I'd love to hear your opinions on it.

To specify, I mean once they have served their time and are out of prison.

In prison I'd say no, once they have served their time then yes.

Well then I think they for sure should be able to, they have paid for their actions by law and are now legally back to being free.

Yes. I see no valid arguments are to why who they prefer as president is somehow invalid because of their current situation.

Of course they should be given that right. If they are out - they should have all the rights

How is that relevant to ex-cons being able to vote?

Hmm well voting doesn't have anything to do with if your a criminal or not. Just because a committed a crime and went to jail doesn't mean he is not a person anymore. Also there are tons of people who kill and murder people who vote and haven't went to jail. Plus it effects the criminals as much as the rest of us, so yes I do believe they should be allowed to vote.

The argument against them voting is they're unfit to vote.

Which begs the question how are the people who do vote, fit to vote.

The true point behind this line of reasoning is to keep our democracy working and not elect an authoritarian, which the GOP just did a while ago.
