Well, you're meant to extract it first. (Just tested downloading, extracting and using. Carbon 1.8 works perfectly fine for me)

No, the KtV quest is bugged on live servers, but the quest has been fixed on PTR servers (as has the Archfiend token one from Oblivion)

Forge Gemstones are just way too much of an inventory hog. Plus you need Receipt of Nulgath which is quite a pain in the ass to get.

You could just to the KtV quest while getting some totems along the way as well.
The pet is AC so you could also just keep using the buy-back shop to get it instead of killing Makais.

Unless you're like me with 50-60 pre-stacked, you should be able to use the buyback shop.

As for which is better, I don't know. Gem of Nulgath quests are hefty, but they could be easier once you get set up. I have only ever done KtV

Okay now I know KTV is better (way better when you don't need to manually hop to Tercessu and also keep on ensuring the room stays glitched)

How do I resolve the problem with Carbon?

That's kinda what I'm doing...it literally says no files to extract. OK, I'll just leave Hadean Onyx to the last to get ( I need Carbon's skill range maxer)

Cetera can max your ranges too.
Delete Carbon 1.8 from your computer. Re-download it. Then extract it with either winRAR or winZIP
