Noob Guide For All Clash Royale Beginners

Clash Royale is a game that can be as addicting as it can get for many people around the world. In Clash Royale, you fight the enemy in real-time(and they fight back). The main keys to win are good offense, good defense, strategy, and timing. You will have to wait for the Elixir to regenerate before deploying more troops (bigger/more troops consume more elixir than smaller/less troops). Figure out a good strategy and stick with it every time you play. In the beginning your troops are likely outmatched, but keep playing and learn to outsmart the enemy. I recommend looking at the latest changelogs for recent nerfs, buffs, etc. as the game is constantly changing and it can be very helpful for you. Big changes can be the difference between winning and losing if you didn’t read about an update.

Here are some tips to rule the Clash Royale Battlefield

    [Spending Gold Wisely]
Players may think that you need gems for success. However, gold is the most important currency in the game. Players don't farm gold as they do in Clash of Clans and gold is earned through victories. Gold can be received through chests as well. The more battles you win, the more chests you will receive. Higher quality chests will take longer to unlock. Clash Royale troops are able to be upgraded if you get more of the same card. Once you have the required amount of cards to upgrade, spend gold to upgrade it to a more powerful unit. This is like the same concept in Clash of Clans: "the better the upgrades of troops, the stronger you can be" but do not upgrade all the troops. Gold needs to be spent wisely, and sparingly. It's good to have a variety of options when changes come but some troops just aren't worth upgrading (which will lead to slow progression). Being a part in challenges/tournaments is a good way to earn some nice gold and cards to upgrade.

[Have Variety in Your Battle Deck]
Setting up your deck is very important for beginners. You have access to three different decks that can be assembled any way you want with whichever troops you want in it as well. Each troop has an elixir cost per deploy. Do not have the cards all 2-3 elixir cards or 5 elixir. They'll take longer, cost more, and you will end up getting outmatched and overrun. Tip: Variety and Balance is Key. Mix up your deck with both high and low Elixir troops as well as both ground and air. If everything costs too much, you will run out of elixir and in a moment, you will be defeated. A few cheap cards can be very great (for example, the fire spirits). It can be some sort of counter-attack and keep you alive until the end. Also, don't forget to have at least one or two splash damage cards. It helps you from hordes (for example, skeleton army). Once you get a legendary, I recommend using it asap. Adding a good variety of high/low or ground/air troops becomes increasingly more important as you progress. Like when the enemy puts down ground troops, place down some air troops like the dragon or minions/minion horde to kill them w/o taking any damage. Next, turn that into a counter-attack. It's all about your timing and strategy. Another idea is cycle decks. In other words, you would be having all the cheap cards and one expensive kill card. Cycle through everything for some quick defense that later turns into an offensive move when you place down your "expensive kill card". Aoe spells/Aoe-damaging troops can be dangerous for you though.

    [Use Skeleton Attacks]
There are many types of skeleton troops and the only troop that is the least squishiest(in terms of low hp) is the Giant Skeleton. The others are very weak and die quick(even with arrows). Skeletons can be a great distraction unless the enemy decides to put down an aoe card to defend which leads to all your troops massively dying. Skeleton army is a great early-game card and they have good synergy with the hog rider. Skeletons can be used for both offense and defense and their power is unbelievable in big amounts (Skeleton army).

    [Don’t Attack First]
Never Never Never Attack First. If you place your troops first, the enemy can plan their counter-attack and it can be a devastating blow for you. Also, if you don't go first, you do have an elixir advantage. That alone can win battles. Waiting until the opponent moves is the best way to find the best troop and strategy to begin. If you attack first, you’ve likely given away a secret kill card or strategy which is also really bad for the rest of your match. Always try to catch your opponent off-guard like save your Freeze spell until the end for the final push to victory.

    [Don’t Rush Attacks]
Sometimes, rushing attacks with hordes of troops can overwhelm an enemy. However, good players will create a counter plan and defend against your massive horde. Their counter-attack w/ a solid offense will destroy your tower(s) easily. Using too many troops at once can get you behind your opponent. For example, if the enemy drops an elixir collector and giant down, I would know they would not have enough elixir and start pushing on one side. Be smart with whatever you do and take your time and be precise every move. Think about it and try having a good trade before striking. Everyone will have a different strategy, approach, and style. This means rushing might work maybe a couple times but beginners tend to take their time and then out maneuver the enemy. Once you've learned more about your cards and what they can do, rush your attacks if you'd like and be prepared for any quick response from the opponent.

    [Use Spells Often]
When you first start, you probably won't get a spell until a week or so of playing. You'll likely get the Freeze spell. This card is good if you save it until the end for the final push. The rage spell is really strong and increases movement speed and damage to destroy your enemies. It's basically good for like all your cards (for example, giants, skeleton giants, skeleton armies, balloons, etc.). The rage spell is really cheap for what it can do and same goes with the other spell cards.

    [Don’t Drop Trophies]
Don't dump your trophies and go to easier arenas. This slows progress and doesn't teach you to beat the real opponents. You'll also get lower-quality chests according to what arena you dropped to. The higher you are in the arena, the higher tier of chests you will get in the arena and vice versa. This allows you to get better cards much faster and you also get a better chance at unlocking new cards. It's not worth it to dump trophies, trust me.

    [Check Out Decks on YouTube]
Youtube can be very useful if you really can't find a good deck for your arena. Simply one youtube search can lead you to many different deck layouts that can help you out a lot. Don't always rely on decks posted on Youtube and change it a bit to your liking aka playstyle. This can help you do much better.
