My cousin got a pretty bad virus on his PC...

Well I have a cousin and he has a decent computer but he shares it with his sister. So while his sister was using it apparently she got some virus or something on it. While researching it apparently it was some tech support scam which I find hilarious if thats true and she called them

Anyways basically once the computer boots up it goes in to this screen that says something like system requires key to start

Ahh, good ol ransomeware. I assume they encrypted it and all, so your best bet is to just get windows media creation on a usb and boot to it, then reinstall windows. You can also wipe HDD through command prompt in the windows repair area when you boot from the usb.

He doesn't even need a key, windows registered his hardware id's and once he goes online with his MS account it will automatically activate.
