If I download a hack then delete it shortly after is there a lower risk of VAC ban?

For example, if i download an wallhack and use it on 1v1 public server for like an hour or two then delete it and return to my main account, Is there a chance of my main getting banned? And if i just keep downloading hacks then deleting the after like a comp or two will i have a lower chance of being banned? Asking for a friend ;^)

Yes you can still be banned, VAC bans are always delayed.

As long as you opened the program and it edited parts of the game, it doesn't matter what you do with it after you'll still get banned if it's detected.

If cheat was detected VAC will flag you as 'to be banned' in around 10 seconds.
VAC bans are delayed. Usually 2-7 days.
