Intel still has the lead, but barely, in gaming performance and IPC. AMD's Threadripper excels in high work loads for content creation thanks to the scale-ability of Infinity Fabric. In terms of pricing, obviously Ryzen is the way to go if you want the most bang for your buck. If you're looking purely for the most performance possible in AAA games, Intel's i7 7700k and up are the route to go.

Also, AMD has guaranteed us support for the AM4 platform for the next generation of Ryzen CPU's with the current B350, X370, and X399 chipsets. Whereas Intel just botched the x299 platform and upcoming Coffee Lake. Looks like everyone who already jumped on Intel's latest offerings will have to fork out more for the new x370 chipset Intel is releasing alongside CL. Those of us who stick with AMD will still see support into the next generation. Not only are we saving money on our CPUs, but we won't have to purchase another motherboard in the years to come.

I'm all for the underdog, AMD. I've been a fan since the Athlon days, still have my Phenom II 975 and FX 8350. Intel has done some seriously shady business practices to hinder competition and further create a monopoly. Right now I'm rocking an i5 4690K. When it comes down to it, brand won't matter. It's whoever offers me the most performance per dollar.

Yeah i don't get that. Why go from skylake to kaby lake and then back to skylake? I haven't heard of coffee lake. And then there's the whole raid key crap.

Coffee Lake is their upcoming consumer-oriented SKU's on their x370 platform, which doesn't make much sense as it's going to cut into their enthusiast x299 line. Everything Intel has is a refresh and die shrink of their existing architecture. They haven't attempted to innovate anywhere. They only thing they've successfully done is train the minds of consumers to pay outrageously for more cores and marginal gains. AMD realized this and jumped on it. The Core Wars have begun again.

I personally favor the Ryzen. The Ryzen benefits me more due to being a gamer and streamer. I like to stream from the same PC and Ryzen seems to handle it much better as far as consistent FPS and no stuttering/lag.

True, but you're paying $500 for increase in performance that is barely noticeable. TR = better price/perf. i9 = best performance worst price.
