The same reason people are fascinated by yeeesus's or jordans. I get that they are real life items but it's the same thing. You buy them for the reaction of people. People go crazy over pixels but you can make money off of these pixels. Can you buy a pair of jordans for $2.50 and resell it for $500? not happening
