Dub is and will always be a more refined product than the original. DBS is an example of this, shit animation for the weekly episodes early on, then the dub remasters the animation so they don't look as bad in the first few episodes.


Dub is and will always be more accurate than subtitles. Subtitles are trying to translate Japanese words meaning into English language. The dub is an OFFICIAL translation of the source material.


Dub allows non-japanese speakers to understand multi-conversations at the same time. In japanese if two or more people are talking, the subtitles will not always translate what everyone's saying it'll just translate the main conversation not the background ones. This causes confusion and lessens the affect the anime may have on viewers. Dubbing in your natural language is much better for actually understanding the anime.


Dub voice actors in many cases preform better than their japanese actors. Spike from cowboy bebop is an example of this. The japanese voice actor was always loud/high pitch, over exaggerating. However the English voice actor used a tone that matched spike's character. A laid back calm voice, that very rarely gets loud or yells.




So you can say "ew dub" all you want, doesn't change the fact your opinion is absolute shit and means nothing. Go ahead and watch every great anime in subtitles, ruin the experience for your self. You're the one who'll never know what that background character actually said, or how a character was suppose to be portrayed. Sure there are plenty of bad dubs, but don't come in this thread trashing an anime with one of the best dubs in history.
