Run up-and-down a steep hill until you really can't anymore. Sounds stupid but running on a gradient will really improve your fitness, it's how I used to improve my times

What you should do for the shoes. Go to a sports shop, if they have like a board that the seller makes you step and do squats, for seeing the food prints of where you use more and less. After if you want stamina you should run in a middle run. No to fast or to slow, you need one you can hold. You need to remember to inhale with your nose and exhale with your mouth. Sounds stupid but it works. If you get bored use a gum. If you want to become faster is doing sprints. For example 100 meters fast and 400 slow, doing that repetitive. If you have a hill is running up fast. Going slow back. If you get sore is because you not used to that. Remember if hurts you should stop. You need to respect your body and your limits

This is such an old thread, but the answer is jog, don't run. You don't run before you can walk. The main is to walk/jog for as long as you can without taking breaks. Also, never look down when you run. Always chest up, look forward, shoulders back. Nice good breathes.

Get a good form that you're comfortable with, also inhale with your nose and exhale with your mouth, controls your breath intake

get some good running shoes, ASICS are great and if you have a store near you they will fit them for you. otherwise my advice would be to find lighter weight ones, most trainers are actually for cross fit so are unessecarily heavy. the pint above about hill running is correct, we used to do it in winter to build muscle and stamina. in summer you will be able to work on sprinting. interval training is great, divide the distance you are running into time or distance segments, like the gap between street lights, and then vary your pace on each segment, from a jog to a sprint and all inbetween, whatever you are comfortable with. in will take you two to three years to get really fit, club runner level, if you aren`t into that you will see good progress within four to five months of running three times a week.

^ for running tbh if you want to run to push yourself, you need to do core and stretch daily, stretching really helps with injury, as well as rolling (buy a roller on amazon for 10$) sore muscles. if you are the type to go real fast one day and just become super sore for days, you are running too fast and you should emphasize jogging to build a set routine for running first, as 6 days of slow paced jogging is better than 1 or 2 days of really fast running and then sore for many days

id recommend hills, interval training, doing stadium steps, and just going for long distance runs.
