You pay for gas as the transaction fee. If your wallet let's you set the fee price and you set it too low your transaction will take longer and will have the chance of it running out of gas and having the transaction reverted.

You can think of this like a transaction fee.

Any type of operation performed with Ethereum will require a transaction fee or "Gas".

Set a side some funds that's dedicated towards Gas fees.
