Learn the basics and start off with a plan. not just I want to build a game you need everything ready before you start so it is less of a hassle when you code.

There are many different ways the way i am going now is through Adobe Flash Professional and it gets really in depth because you can make 2D and 3D games 2D is way easier than 2D so i'd start with a small flash games and get familiar with something that is called AS3 language for coding the flash game, i can help more when i know more, like i said still going down that route so if you want send me a message ill keep you informed on what i find, the app even has guides to starting movements, behaviors. But it does cost money monthly but you can get 1 month free trial to it to see if you like it.

1. You know any programing language? Choose an engine based on that. If you dont know, you can always use Unreal Engine blueprint "coding" or Game Maker studios;
2. Figure out what kind of game you want to make;
3. Make a list of things u might need - enemies, weapons, particles, responsive surrounding, powers, whatever;
4. Find tutorials based on that;
5. Start
