Building my first PC

Hello, all I have been developing small programs and playing games like league, minecraft and RoTMG on an older macbook (I know its shit) with like 1.3ghz an abysmal graphics card 4gb ddr4 and a 255 gig ssd for the last five years now, this is my seconds time fixing the battery (costs 100$) and I am sick of this piece of trash. I am looking to build a PC for around $800 USD, amazing graphics cards dont really concern me as much, mostly the 2-5 minute build times with different clis. I understand I cannot afford any kind of thread ripping monster, but I do have an ssd to recycle and I can rip the ram out too, I am looking for 8 gigs alteast. Sorry for the unformatted text wall but my computer is wort of on its last legs and this is lagging it /shug . If you have any builds/hardware suggestions/tips please leave them! Tysm for reading.

whats the main focus of the build? i assume youre more into light gaming than into photo/video editing

also you will prob not be able to reuse the ram as laptop ram is of the SODIMM formfactor while normal desktop memory is bigger

also do you know if you can rip out the SSD without too much trouble? afaik macbooks have most components soldered onto the board
if you can reuse it, it would be really good though

The games you play wont need a really expensive gpu,
For those games you should be fine with a 1050ti.
Also a ryzen 1300 should be good enough for you're needs or budget.

Thanks for the usefull info, yea only light games for me, I am looking to save some time when working on my crappysoftware projects. On my current computer debug takes 2-5 mins to compile while release takes around an hour. I know the ssd can be ripped out it has like some kind of adapter that is sort of universal (I am terrible with hardware) /shrug

Personally, I think its alright...
You can downgrade the GPU make it cheaper... or get a bigger case + motherboard
or whatever...

you should def be able to use the ssd then

also a 4core ryzen system with a 1060 will be fine enough for the games youll be playing

Just get a hybrid hard drive... its an SSD and an HDD. It cheaper than an SSD and basically does the samething so...

my old hybrid HDD failed after 1year lol

ssds are really cheap nowadays and everyone should have at least a 120GB one in the system

also are hybrid HDDS not as fast as a proper SSD as their max speed is limited by cache size
any ssd will be faster
