A man with an assault like rifle went into a waffle house and started shooting. Another person who ran into the bathroom noticed the gunmen stopped firing and looked at his rifle. So he ran out grabbed the gun and beat him up.


If this man had a gun, he likely would have gotten into a shoot out increasing his chances of death on either side.

That's false and your implying something false. Justified homicides are far less likely to occur than suicides and regular homicides. In fact it's relatively rare to have a case where someone actually defended themselves from harm using a firearm. Maybe you've been too atoned to creating false narratives propagated by what you see on TV.

You're more likely to literally murder yourself with a gun in your own home, than you are to protect your family. In fact your family, especially if you have kids, are more likely to hurt or kill themselves using the gun supposedly intended for protection. In actuality a gun does not make you safe, in fact it makes you less safe.
