Welcome to Specttres tutorial on how to increase your FPS. With higher FPS you can record with fraps easier, keep up to date with whats on the screen and make your gameplay smoother and easier to play.
FPS (Frames Per Second) has nothing to do with your server connection and everything to do with your PC and it's hardware as well as what processes you are running.
An average FPS is around 70 for crossfire, if your computer can't reach this standard you probably need to follow this guide which can increase your FPS by 40-80, if your already getting around 70, it may only increase your FPS by 30-40.
Some things to keep in mind before starting are:
- You will always get better FPS running your game from a USB or even better, a separate drive
- FPS largely relies on your computers graphics and video cards, if they aren't good you will never get your FPS above 100
- The better quality your games graphics are, the lower the FPS is likely to be
- Running crossfire in high priority will always give better FPS
- Running other programs such as your browser, music or wireless devices while in CF will also lower FPS
The first thing your going to need to do is clean your computer out with this handy program. It deletes temp files, deletes unrelated files from old uninstalled programs and generally straighten things up in your registery.
CCleaner Free Download
After using that program to clean out your computer, download defraggler. A program that defrags your computer better than windows ever could. This will help your computer run faster.
Defraggler Free Download
When your done with that your computer should be running at a much higher speed. Now you need to download Gamebooster. This does a really handy thing in the fact that it closes all unneeded processes while your playing your game then turns them back on when your done.
Gamebooster Free Download
Once downloaded install and run. When your in Gamebooster click on the tab next to Main that says 'Game Defrag' then if crossfire is there select it. If not, click browse for directory, find the game files and defrag.
Now your ready to play crossfire! Click on the gaming mode button on gamebooster to enter gaming mode. Close all other windows/programs that are running.
Then start crossfire and go to your settings. Once there change your gamma to 100% and turn all the blood and bullet impacts etc. off.
Go ingame and be happy with your new FPS.
