I recommend using Game Maker 2. The Demo Version of it doesn't include the compiler features, which you need to share your game and play it outside of the Game Maker, but you can play around it already and use all features you need to make a professional game. All you need at this point is creativity and the will to finish the game.
It allows you to choose between Drag & Down Projects and the Game Maker Language which is a ripoff of C#. An easy to learn programming language.
