MH370 may have 'secretly landed and taken off again' during mystery one hour gap.
Missing Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 may have landed before taking off a short time after it mysteriously vanished, an 'expert' claims.
Author Jeff Wise believes that a gap of one hour and 13 minutes in the doomed flight's record touch have seen the plane touch down.
Flight MH370 disappeared on March 8, 2014, and no one has provided a definitive explanation about what happened to it.
There were 239 people on board the plane, which was en route from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing.
Mr Wise said: “The big unknown was what happened between 6.28pm when the satcom was turned on and 7.41pm."
“Had the plane made a single turn or flown around in circles, or perhaps even landed somewhere and then taken off again?”
Mr Wise previously said: "Looking at the fine print of the Inmarsat data log, we saw that in fact the system had been turned off and then back on again.
"At 18:03, 42 minutes after the plane disappeared from air traffic control, radar the satellite tried to put through a text message. MH370’s satcom hadn’t responded."
"Then 22 minutes later at 18:25 MH370 initiated a log-on with Inmarsat. It was coming back online."
The researcher, of New York City, said this suggested the plane had not gone dark because of an electrical disaster.
High Fine for pseudoscientific publisher
Science relies highly on research and peer reviewing new finds to confirm them. Predatory journals do do this at all and if you have the money to pay them, they will publish whatever article you hand them.
Those journals wont check whether or not those findings are legitimate or in any way real, as long as you have the money they publish it. This has been an issue for a while now and last week an Arizona Court has fined Omics International, for 50 Million USD. Omics is publishing hundreds of journals in all scientific areas such a medicine, engineering etc which makes it one of the biggest players in that field. Furthermore the court has ordered the company to stop its operations in the US. Omics has also been misleading authors which have been interested in publishing, as they didn't disclose of the fees as well as not telling them about the legitimacy of the journals. They stated they had more than 50000 experts under contract but could only prove they had 380. Omics which is based in India has also advertised their conferences with famous speakers that had been unaware their name has been used.
For any researcher it is very important to be publishing new articles to advance their careers. So as some might not know the background of those companies they willingly accept their constant requests to publish articles.
The FTC has started to sue Omics in 2016 and this has been the first court case against such a publisher. However it is not clear if the FTC will ever see anything from those 50 Million as Omics only had a couple Mail drops in the US and most of their money is out of reach for the justice system.
This case has also caused countries like India and South Korea to change their law in order to fight companies like Omics.
Future Soldier Becomes Reality with Hololens
A CNBC reporter who tested out the US Army's modified version of HoloLens by Microsoft claimed it is similar to a real-life version of Call of Duty. In November of last year, Microsoft signed a contract with the US Army to supply HoloLens for use in combat and training to make the Army "smarter". The headset was modified by the Army into what's called IVAS (Integrated Visual Augmentation System). Unlike VR, AR overlays information on top the real world so the soldier can read the information as well as staying aware of the surrounding.
The reporter said although the headset he tested was "buggy" but it still showed what the technology was designed for. The unit was able to provide the satellite image of his position as well as a nearby building. The headset also showed the position of friendlies, virtual markers, compass and many more. The headset can also gather data on the soldier during their training such as their heart rate. The current version of IVAS is too big to integrate with helmets but it's expected to shrink to the size of a pair of sunglasses within six months.
Country Music's Origin Town Excluding Women
University of Southern California's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative conducted a study on Nashville TN to bring more light to the gender gap within country music. The study showed that only 16% of country artists are female and only 12% of country song writers are females. While there are some exceptional country artists that are women such as Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert and Kasey Musgraves the majority of all women who have made it in the country music scene all began when they were younger. USC's Annenberg Inclusion Initiative states the more mature women's voices are not being heard and their perspectives aren't being accepted. "Billboard magazine reported last December that for the first time, its Country Airplay chart listed no female artists in its Top 20. The Annenberg team says that its research was triggered by the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards nominees announcement in February, in which not a single woman was put forward for entertainer of the year". (NPR) In other recent country music news, the song "Old Town Road" by Lil Nas X was removed from the top country billboard because it didn't embrace enough "country aspects".
Cowboys, Lawrence agrees to $105 Million deal
DeMarcus Lawrence has just agreed to a five-year, $105 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys. Lawrence plays as a defensive end, and Cowboys are looking to keep him as one of the main pass-rushers on the team. Negotiations had a breakthrough when Cowboys executive vice president, Stephen Jones, talked with Lawrence and decided on $31.1 million for the first year and a $25 million signing bonus. This is the fourth highest contract ever for a defensive player, and people attribute that to the fact that he got 14.5 sacks during 2017. He also made it to the Pro Bowl in 2017 and 2018.
