While true, history falls apart even more through its bastardization and severely crippled place in education. Buildings are nice to marvel at, but they teach little and eventually crumble through time. Romanticizing the past through a pointed perspective of only its achievements and sanitized of its failures is a disservice to the history itself. For every self important structure erected by kings, popes and emperors are a million shanty towns and a million workers that made humanity's 'achievements' possible.
