I could understand it if they had some magnificent innovation that was very useful, and due to R&D costs it could spike to 1k..

Also never really understand why the general public gets so outraged at this kinda thing, just don't buy it if you cant afford it. It'll force Apple to shift, and if people constantly buy and you cant then look at other companies products.

Apple really should have just slapped the stand in with the monitor and price it in total at $6K. This was just bad execution by their marketing folks.

I feel the public outrage is completely on the execution of the presentation. The stand is being marketed separately to appeal to those that want to use vesa or will want to use their own mounts... not sure if compatibility will be an issue with the latter. They really should have done a better job at identifying the target audiences.

Regardess... $1K for a stand is outrageous.

Mac Pro is actually worth the price though so is the display, but the stand really should only be 200 max.

well they couldve priced it so that they sell the monitor + stand for 6k and give 1k discount when you dont take the monitor
