People bumping old threads isn't the mods fault lol. Their job is to ban the people that do spam, bump old threads, advertise, etc... and from what I've seen they do that pretty well.

There's no way for them to predict which account is gonna bump a 2016 thread and then ban said account xD.

Too bad that people aren't choosing new moderators for general so it can be cleaned up more quickly...

Just because there are global moderators, doesn't really mean they should be tasked to look out for all over the forum, Boombox is the only minion / staff in general, while I am very well aware that global moderators and other upper staff take care of the stupid people who don't have decency to be more humane with the selection of threads to reply to, so in my mind, the best choice is to pick a new / fresh recruit that can more or less help out the general section / other parts of the sections as well, I have not seen anyone being given staff based on general for a long time.

Well, that's the thing Ally, people are too dumbfounded to be like "oh, there is a report button, let's do that" but they insist that, and reply to the same thread which was posted on by some newcomer, well there are ideas that can be used to prevent these things, by locking the thread and let it die, but for some reason that kind of an approach is absolete.

Just report it, it'll usually get dealt with fast. Also, if we end up seeing frequent reports from a place that isn't checked so regularly, it'll let us know to pay more attention there.
