What's the saddest truth about leaving high school?

Sometimes, the saddest thing about leaving high school is that once you’re gone, you’ve realized that you did it all wrong!

Losing a fair portion of your friends.

You'll keep the close ones and you may even go with them to the same college, but you'll lose all those that you only met because they're in your classes/activities.
Also, you'll get bored real fast (if you don't have a job/college) because you won't have a schedule to stick to or anything to accomplish.

For me I would say it was not seeing my friends as much. Some went across the country and I basically never physically see them for a year or two. For those who are still close by, I see them only during breaks. We still text in our group chats though but it's not the same as being with your friends in person.

Yeah they're going to drift away just as much as you are away from them. I will concede that some do stay in touch and that's awesome but for the majority of people those friends are gone.

Awh, firstly you realize that you did it all wrong, your anxiety kept you from joining groups and meeting people. The people you did get along with you never hung out with outside of school and never kept touch, and the very few that met all that criteria still faded away, or moved away, then some died. Then of course not caring about marks only to later regret that decision for the rest of your life.

Mine wasn't friends, because changed my high school like 3 times, because of education system, and was sweating over grades thinking it would get me into a good uni for my future. Well guess what nothing really matters.. You can't really change your life, you just gotta keep going with what ever you have, and enjoy your present as much as you can, else you will have regrets.

The saddest thing is how much of a sheltered existence it is. Once you're out of high school, you'll never find teachers that will hold your hand to make you succeed. The environment is designed to coddle you from the real world, and once you make it - it's a complete shock.
