It actually depends if you play alone or together.

Like, do your friends play on Java? or on Win10?


Also if your friends play on mobile you can only play with them over the win10 .. so only you can decide.

Java. Windows 10 version is basically only for single player and playing with MC Pocket Edition friends while with Java you can play multiplayer servers

Crepeer!! Aw man~ if your computer/laptop is of low spec, use Minecraft Windows 10 Edition and if your computer/laptop is of medium/high specification then use Minecraft Java Edition.
