You mean sign-up referrals? I'm not sure if there's a system that rewards you for referring people when they register or if you can even display how many referrals you have. That's all I know, sorry.

You can display how many referrals you have, go to somebody's profile and click about me and scroll down to the end of the page

Its more or less a statistic for mods to see. When a new user is creating an account, they have the option to type in a user that "referred" them to the site. So its the number of new users that used your username as the person who told them about MPGH.

Mods may use it, for whatever reason, but it really has no purpose in my opinion.

There is also another type of "referral" that users use when trading. Which is kinda like a more detailed interpretation of a receipt that tells what the user bought and how smooth the transaction went.
