one good tip, buy a Sony a7iii
Learn about the basics on youtube. ISO, aperture and shutter speed. From then on, focus on your compositions and what you want to bring out from a photo )also plenty tutorials). If you have money buy a medium to a high range DLSR or mirrorless camera. Also shoot in RAW if you are interested in retouching photos in programs like Adobe Lightroom. You can get really creative here and make whatever you want.

I don`t think it`s necessary for him at this stage, SL2 is good enough for beginners. However I`m not saying that A7m3 is crap or anything but it`s not worth the investment at this point. Not to mention Sony glass, you`ll be looking at 3k$ just for the body & couple lenses to start. My advice would be to learn as much as you can with your SL2 & you can later upgrade to a better full frame body. Just watch tutorials online & go out there to shoot & practice, once you get the basics, you can start shooting for your friends or family.

Images will almost never look so good on camera, shoot in raw and edit them later... Also, YouTube is full of the tutorial, there are YouTubers who only make photography videos...
