How did we reverse this? How does LA today look beautiful and modern as opposed to looking like a fucking ashtray? The strictest environmental standards and a battle with the white-house is how california reversed this. They won the battle, so much so that they gained the right to directly control environmental regulations in their own state without the intrusion of the white house. This is why Trump has to battle with them in the first place. Of course, even back then when the problem was extreme, people still whined and bitched like OP about muh straight-pipes. However, now with the benefit of hind-sight we can all surely agree that these regulations were correct. The same thing is happening now, and the white house is battling them again and people are bitching again.
