i get the idea, and definitely see the value in having an on site/controlled messenger for a place with a shit ton of sales and trades like this one, but the messenger on here is just trash. its so goddamn slow, can only be connected in 1 tab, is down 25% of the time, and i dont think ive ever heard a single notification sound. not to mention you dont get any email or anything if you receive a message while offline. and why the fuck doesnt the IM tag button when writing a post just automatically put your profile url? like how often are you gonna put someone elses?

idk tbh, maybe some irc variant or something like a private riot.im/matrix based server (open source, but not sure if there is direct messaging or if admins can read direct messages ootb). or maybe even just a dedicated subdomain for the chat that you can have open in a new window like chat.mpgh.net that persists and doesn't get closed every time you click 1 thing lmfao

Disc group would be easiest if you ask me.

It would be a huge community there. Buying/selling process would work by opening some sort of ticket(there are probably trading bots/plugins) on marketplace section of the disc. Buyer/Seller would invite one another to that room. The room would be monitored by the staff team and can only be closed from staff team after finishing transactions. Sellers and buyers would have to verify themselves on MPGH with etc.ticket room number, send the ticket room number through PM on MPGH website. If buyer/seller refuse to verify, it will be considered as a scam attempt.
Group wouldn't exist only for trading purposes. It could be used as general talking, sharing stuff and other things.

I know this won't be accepted but my thoughts about how to fix IM and trade process.

I was kinda thinking the same for a little while, but then I thought that it would likely be way too much work to have to manually make a new room for every transaction on here. I imagine that there are probably at least 1-2 potential transactions every couple of minutes (I am considering the initial message about the offer as well) which would be a lot of work for someone, or multiple people to deal with. Another thing is that I am not sure how keen Disc is on having servers about the kind of stuff on this website on their platform, as recently they banned and deleted quite a few private server channels with no explanation. Those servers all moved to Tele, but that is not without it's problems either.

I think trying to adapt an open source self hosted chat platform might be a good idea, as they would be able to audit things quite easily and simply focus on looking at scam reports like they do now. That or just updating the current IM, and adding basic features like pop out or some other thing that doesn't have it disconnect every time you visit a different page.

i glanced over the bot idea you had. that could work i think, if they had you verify your mpgh account by adding your Disc token to your account on here or with oauth or something like that. the only problem I see with that is persistent logs, since not all scams happen immediately. i guess they could also have the bot dump each transaction's logs so they can access them later if need be tho

That's true yeah. There are tons of great people that are contributing here and could be accepted as trial disc moderator to keep the server up and running. IDK, I can see that IM has some problems, sometimes it won't connect for a few times, sometimes there is no "Chat" button and other things.

I think it's not as bad as it used to be and that's good enough for me, would love if it was more mobile friendly though, I have to use full site on phone and it's just awkward. However it is not that bad nor is it down every second day. Option to attach photos would also be nice, I hate having to upload to a third party site every time.

I think that would also be an issue because posts/thanks etc play a significant role in mpgh compared to other sites.
I would consider someone with thousand posts and multiple thanks much more trusted than someone with 5-15 vouches on a thread that's 2 years old and he could be selling something completely different than what im trying to buy/sell.
