but tbh stocks are mostly luck so you can't blame yourself
Recently got into day trading stock options. Sunday, SPY is at $314.24. Queued up 10 put option contracts at $312 that expires 12/04 for $56 each. $560 total. Confident that market will go down cause of China trade deal issues. Midnight rolls around. Self-doubt due to all time high sales records from black friday and possibly cyber monday. Cancel order cause no balls. Wake up and market tanked to $311s. Those contracts are now worth $130 each ($160 in the morning). Fuck me.

OT about stocks
My dad has always been telling me to get into oil stocks because of Middle East conflict, etc??? Is it a good idea
The universe is a cruel, uncaring void. The key to being happy isn't a search for meaning. It's to just keep yourself busy with unimportant nonsense, and eventually, you'll be dead
Guess that would be oil commodity features. In other words, that's the ability to buy oil at a future date at a price set today (if I'm mistaken, someone please correct me). So if you expect oil prices to increase in the future, say due to middle eastern conflict hurting supply chain leading to price increases, then I guess getting features would be good. That being said, I imagine features usually have premiums you need to pay which means you can also potentially overpay for oil if oil prices fall. Features are basically locking in a set price. Oil stocks themselves i would imagine would be hurt by middle east conflict cause it causes uncertainty in their supply chains leading to the stock falling.

80-90% of daytraders lose $$$. Tis normal.
Invest for the long run homie, its ok to daytrade but u will loose money and like dave says its gambling. Find some positions you are confident in and invest a signifcant amount to get a good ROI. Rn deadass i dont even have to work because my rent and expenses get paid off by my interest. Find a high APY account and open some 0% APR credit cards like the chase freedom unlimited and use it for ur daily spending, pay it off with investment return and whatever you save off of working
heres my current average gain/loss for my top performing positions, Vanguard is generally good with returns as well as gov money market, i keep 2/3 of all my assets invested because i am young and can afford to play with risk.
some more info: i highly reccomend that you put your money on banks that will offer you a good interest rate with little to no fees, I started with a chase college and then upgraded to a chase private client, and when i did they offered me so much, including private banking and stuff, so i highly suggest keeping it in a bank and not on sofex, people hate banks and are scared of them but trust me as far as investment goes the bank only makes money when you make money. my bankers take their cut which is super minimal based on the performance of my assets. If you want more info i can give you some good positions to put money on, granted some weeks ill have days in which i lose 3000 or 4000$ instantly, but generally ill make back 1-3k a day if the stock market is good. i chose to keep the 1-3 k a day in my assets and have my bankers deduct it from gains and deposit it for me on my concurrent checking, you dont need hundreds of thousands to make good money you just need steady returns and a lil bit of risk

Lmao ok. Day thread, which is what OP is doing, is very hard to get a grip on and most people are not emotionally ready at start. You can do it but it takes time and you should first invest and swing trade before doing anything day trading related. Stocks is not luck if you do your research, keep up with news, know patterns, and what not. Sure not 100 percent guaranteed, but neither is you being alive tomorrow. Its only gambling if you make it so.

I think it was pretty obvious that it would crash @Bernard.
P.S: What do you use? TDameritrade? Charles, robinhood (idk if they do options honestly).

Also I don't day trade, just follow it . Not good enough imo (YET >: D)

I still think it will crash. If you take a look at each new record peak, it is followed by a crash.

I'd love to hear more over the weekend.
I don't think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out that after every record peak is a pullback. It's never a question of if, it's always of question of when. Also I use Robinhood. Used it since highschool so never thought to use anything else. Also cause commission free.

Their risk management is trash in that their platform has exploitable infinite money glitches. Of course, they'll ban you and you will never actually get your infinite money. And of course, they'll give margin and leverage to just about anyone. But afaik they don't lose anything from doing that. I just wouldn't trust young adults with margin and leverage cause it's like trusting kids with nuclear launch codes. I don't trade often no. I usually add to my account when I have the extra money from working.
