Well, that is just a few sites I have checked. Not all black and white on which side they are on. However, I do think it is too late. Not as in the next 10 years but too late indeed. Not enough people in power care, and I think I have lost hope myself (not that I had any to begin with)

Reason I made this thread is because about a comment I left earlier in the australian fire donation thread.

Unfortunately it looks like money still rules us and our climate change situation wont get better. just using mpgh you are polluting the world, literally using electricity and browsing the web makes a carbon footprint, we are fucked unless someone comes up w some crazy solution. That is why I think it is too late. I am not saying I am not part of the problem. However, even if I stop doing what I am doing it won't do anything. It has to a global solution, unless people show that they care it won't matter. It has to be a bottom up solution.

I am not going to sugar quote it, I don't think I can change my lifestyle and it sounds like a bad thing to say but no point in lying; I am not going to sit here and be a hypocrite. Mentality like that is common and politicians probably also think the same (maybe worse).... it doesn't help.

they planted like 160million trees in finland last year
with a population of like 5million

even that is not close enough to change anything


if the whole world would stop doing what were doing the effects might still be able to be controlled somewhat but it def wont be as before
i think were at the point of no return now, dont have to forget pollution which adds another layer to this aswell

I'm not fully versed on whether or not current climate change is caused by humans, weather-patterns or both.

Things that can be done to reduce emissions by half according to statistics (human-emitted) would be to..

1) invest in plant-based/lab-grown meat products, raising poultry animals cost a lot of grain and water, resulting in a lot of our agricultural production to be dumped into poultry, along with a shit ton of water. Not to mention the CO2 emissions from cows when they let one rip, or when @Dave84311 lets one rip and is the cause of 25% of the co2 emissions caused by cows.

2) Nuclear energy. Not much needs to be said here. Invest in nuclear energy, it's a much more efficient (but dangerous) form of energy. Big gas companies pump money into keeping nuclear energy irrelevant, and causing fear in relation to nuclear powerplant meltdowns etc.. Nuclear energy is the future regardless, oil is a finite resource, it'll eventually be on it's way out and we need to find an alternative anyways.

3) Be more educated. Nothing is more annoying than pessimistic individuals who sit on facebook or reddit and point fingers at "humanity". If you're reading this, you're also detrimental to the environment and you have a carbon footprint as well, regardless of your position on what the reasons behind climate change are. Think before you speak, don't spread misinformation regarding climate change. Make small lifestyle changes regardless of what the cause of climate change is.. Steel water bottles, recycle, avoid plastics and get a more fuel efficient car.

Nature will figure itself out. Either we survive and we change our ways, or a bunch of us die and nature does what it does best, create life again. I'm not too worried about climate change, there will be devastating effects but contrary to popular belief, no we won't all die in 10 years lul.

If we want to get climate change under control we need more places to take example of the EU. The EU is actively trying to combat climate change but there is no point if China and US will just keep pumping emissions into the atmosphere.

it isn't too late to do something about it, but having said that... I don't think that we'll do anything about it. All of our infrastructure has been built around fossil fuels, changing EVERYTHING in such a short period of time will be next to impossible.
