What do you think about renting a car somewhere abroad? I'd just got my driving license, and want to rent a car on my trip. Has someone had such an experience?

congrats on the driving license, but be careful out there son
I find that rental car companies are probably the worst with hidden fees. Make sure they explain every charge to you.
Certain car rental places don't even charge more for people under 21. I forget which but it was some car sharing company I think.
I went to Ohio last year in May. I rented a really nice new Cadillac ct6 for $80 [2 days]. They ended up sending us a cover fee at the end for $30. (Try to get a cheap Hyundai instead)
Presuming you're young as you just got your license, a lot of rental companies wont give out cars to people under a certain age in certain countries (usually 21 or 25) so keep an eye on that
As above read the whole contract as the cheaper companies may look enticing but sometimes hide crap like any tolls incurred that you don't sort out yourself the company will pay and then charge xx$ for admin time
And of course check which side the country drives on and whether or not you're comfortable changing (roundabouts etc will be the opposite)
I am not a middleman nor do I buy/sell anything. If you are being contacted by someone off-site from MPGH then it's not me! Please report these to me via PM. Don't be stupid, think first.
take care because there are many hidden fees. When you rent a car. Take high quality pictures from the beginning from different parts of the car. Many unprofessional ones will try to tell you that there are new scrathes on their car and you need to have proof that it was given to you like that.
Choose a big company over a small one

I rented a car in London when I visited a year ago. They asked for my license IIRC. Also make sure you get insurance on your car. If you aren't 30 or older prepare to get fucked with the rate.

I think that there is no better place to move around the foreign city and explore it that rented car. It saves you a lot of time, and you can go somewhere even late at night. I've rented a vehicle only twice, and the only other experience was excellent because, with the first company I use, I had a lot of trouble. But when I rented a car from https://myrentacar.com/en/cyprus/larnaca/, everything was ok. I chose the insurance, filled some papers, and made a deposit. In the car, I could go everywhere I wanted, and I avoided public transport, which is, for sure, a benefit to me.
