Ok, so I found where the names are stored, but when i try and change them, they don't change? any help appreciated

I meant in cheat engine, changing names realtime, i know it's possible

It's not possible on multiplayer, your name is sent only once and this is when you're joining a server, the server will use the name you sent and at no point will the server accept that packet again.

Actually you can change this by editing your name in game then resending packet 3 once more (assuming your on a vanilla server it has a very low chance of being accepted by the server if its tshock
