They try to repair the package to their best ability but sometimes just do a shit job.

thing is, is that ive never had issues with fedex or usps drivers they are pretty good with delivering but there have been so many times ups just sends me the notification "sorry we missed you" even though they never knocked or rung the doorbell and ill just watch them leave the neighborhood and i seen a few of them just yeet any package that isnt a box
