It's actually for a good cause, most dudes try to make phat buck from these things.
There are people hyperinflation certain bids to crazy amounts so no one profits.

Yea they are fake bids. People that were able to get the card on day 1 instantly went to ebay and price gouged the fuck out of the gpu. Its asinine, so what are a lot of pissed off people doing? Fake bidding the fuck out of those cards to insane prices that the seller and the buyer both know wont get paid and this causes the seller to relist.

I personally love it because a lot of people just botted for the card so they could do exactly what is being done on eBay and Amazon rn.
