Canada in general has a terrible history with anything relating to the aboriginal peoples. If you want to read some depressing shit go research "Canadian Indian residential school system" and the "Indian Act". As someone with first nations ancestry it's thoroughly depressing. yeah dude. this is so true, but i mean QC has probably as many racist ppl as any other province. they just dont like religion. i bet this is equally likely to happen in any othef province

Let me give some insight, hospital staff deal with drug addicts coming in and doing this and not actually being in any trouble. So therefore staff become complacent. Also, nursing in Canada is a hard and thankless job, you're forced to treat people who call you "dumb bitch / whore" constantly. It is an incredibly stressful job. So you get jaded and burnt out hospital staff.

That doesn't justify what this nursed did. She obviously needs to find a new profession because behaving like this is absolutely despicable; but if we want to properly identify and treat the problem, we need to stop blaming everything on racism. This is a much more complex problem.

When you treat drug addicts every day, you get desensitized and lose perspective.

Nurse probably just hates her job and the people she takes care of. Not that uncommon really unfortunately.

Could be racism, but I'm not really inclined to just offload it so easily to racism. I think this is a bigger problem basically going back to how a very socialist healthcare system is essentially abused on a constant basis (by drug addicts and other people who just beg for morphine or other drugs) resulting in many hospital staff just not really caring or having a value for life in general. Unlike US, canadas healthcare system is forced to treat people who routinely abuse hospital staff, drugs and their body. We all pay the price for it.

As a straight white male, even I get treated like shit in Canadian hospitals. Everyone there is just a complete asshole. Depends where you go I suppose, but city hospitals get their fair share of abuse.
