    Lightbulb Thread Bumping Rework

There is a forum that I use (that I won't name) that has a system allowing for thread bumps every hour instead of the standard 24 hours. I think this system is much much better than the current 24 hour system. Here's why:

    1. Creates a sense of competition and interaction within the seller community.
    2. Drives up the activity of sellers and buyers alike, since sellers are constantly bumping their threads every hour.
    3. Also drives up the overall activity and users online count on MPGH, which looks good.
    4. Rewards sellers with high activity, because they'll always be on page 1, also good for MPGH because, well, consistent user activity looks good on paper.
    5. Actually allows sellers to respond to customers within their thread without being given a warning because "they bumped twice in 24 hours" when in reality they were just answering a question.

I don't know. Every forum is different, and every community is different, ultimately it's up to the staff to consider this. Maybe it can be rolled out to smaller sections first, like the COD or GTA section, and have it tested there. Then, later on, it could be added to global marketplace.

I don't think it's a good idea for marketplace, I'm happy with 24 hours bumps, 1 hour ones will be just spamming.

Could be seen as spamming yes, but as I highlighted, it will encourage sellers to be extremely active to stay on page one, and that's a plus . I think personally it will only work in smaller sections, probably not in a big marketplace setting.

@ImMalkah In theory it sounds like great, but when you implement the change it can cause a lot of unnecessary ordeal for the forum. The 24 hour bump will remain for now until further changes are made. Users these days communicate through im or pm. We will keep your suggestion in mind.

A bump is deemed as an irrelevant or insignificant post used to push your thread to the top of the page. Some people think they're slick by posting stuff like "Back online and I'm still selling" or replying to a vouch with "Thanks for the business" within that 24 hour period. This will no longer fly. However, things like a deal annoucment, the tagging of a minion to change a price, or replying to buyer who has a question or complaint are all significant posts. In all honesty, you guys should be able to differentiate between the 2 on your own.

This is to reduce spam and other useless posts.

I think you are right but when it comes to decrease 24 to 1 is not good idea.12 hours would be safer to prevent spam? What do you think about it?

As I said before, it can be seen as spammy, but at the end of the day it's just an hourly bump, and the most active people benefit the most. But in a way, I never really considered 12 or maybe even 6 hours. Maybe even 3 hours. Those time ranges can still attract those perks without being "spammy".
