These next reviews I'm leaving out the imdb link because I'm lazy...



I really liked Train to Busan so when I heard a "sequel" was coming out, I had to watch it. Watched it last night and imo while it's not as good as the last movie, it's good enough. If you like zombie movies, this one's for you. If you like some Mad Max style car chases through zombie infested city streets, this one's for you. Also really like the characters in the movie. I'd give this movie a 7.5/10 (tho I'm kinda bias cause I generally love zombie movies). If you don't like zombie movies...maybe a 5.5/10? Slightly above "eh"?

I decided to watch Nomadland because it won an Oscar for best picture. The first hour or so of the movie was some REALLY boring shit that nearly put me to sleep. The movie is described as a character study which it most certainly is. There's not really a main story so much as it's a look into the life of someone who lives out of their van, is constantly traveling (living the nomad lifestyle), and some random slice of life events (work, Thanksgiving, New Years, someone's death, etc.). I will say however by the end of the movie I was like "okay I can see why this was nominated for best picture". Does it deserve best picture? Idk cause I haven't watched all the nominations. As someone who's watched numerous documentaries about communes/people who live outside of what we see as normal society, this movie didn't really open my eyes to the lifestyle. However, the movie does push you to think about the life we all choose to live. Overall, I'd give the movie a 7.5-8/10. Pretty good, but it's no Parasite (2019's Best Picture) which I think is hands down the best movie I have EVER seen.

The Trial of the Chicago 7 (2020)

The trial transfixed the nation and sparked a conversation about mayhem intended to undermine the U.S. government."

8/10 Was wondering why this got nominated for best picture and really liked it. Sure liked it more than Nomadland. Like the blurb says, the film tells the story of the Chicago 7, a group of countercultural protesters who were charged with conspiracy to incite a riot while protesting the Vietnam war during the 1968 Democratic National Convention in Chicago. A great historical legal drama and a great case study of the 1960s in the US. Would recommend to anyone that has any interest in American history.

Side note: While I was writing this review, I decided to google the years for the Vietnam War which is 1 November 1955 – 30 April 1975. Nearly 19 and a half years. The War in Afghanistan started on 7 October 2001 and we've been at war for a bit over 19 and a half years. Kinda wild to see the politics of the 60s kind of popping up again ranging from the space race (1969 was Apollo 11 when man first landed on the moon), West vs. East, racial issues in America, anti-war sentiment (as shown through Afghanistan and the push to end the conflict between Israel/Palestine), etc. At least instead of being afraid of nuclear war, we're afraid of covid.

It was fresh air, a new demonic possession, a new case. A nice and good movie out of all from Conjuring universe. Very much enjoyed, could say one of the best from its franchise.
