    Domain renewal price?

I forgot to renew my domain in time and the registrar blocked the domain. I found out the cost of domain recovery will cost $180. It's very expensive, isn't it? What should be the adequate price for domain restoration?

I think it directly depends on the specific domain zone. Maybe you are using some kind of exotic domain zone? I just checked Pananames, for example, to restore my .net domain in which case I will have to pay $66.42.

After expiry, Domain names are locked for 2 months by your domain registrar in case you want to renew it (according to laws of ICANN). So, during this period, most of the registrars hike the price of these domains as they know that there's no other option for a valid business but to renew it at whatever they cost. It's a scummy business practice going on over decades. In this case, you only have 2 options.

    1. Renew at a high price.
    2. Wait out the 2 months period, and once it's available in the market again, you can buy it. (But in this way, you risk the domain, and someone else might buy your domain as it will be publicly available in the market.
