In this kind of upgrade very rare cases happen where google removes the unlimited drive from your account. Yes you get a replacement drive because of the Lifetime warranty but your data will be lost. Server side copy means, You don't have to keep your pc on while its transferring files + You don't waste your limit if you're on a limited Internet connection.

I have actually gotten this before and after a month I lost my access to the folder with my data inside it, but they gave me a replacement for free, I won't mention the seller, but be careful, it is not 100% safe so don't go and put your life data in there, make sure you have a backup.
