Describe your scariest "mundane" experience. By this I don't mean paranormal, but the kind of thing that could happen to anybody (i.e., getting robbed at knife point, witnessing a murder, finding a dead body).
Here's mine...
When I was younger, I woke up one night because I had to take a leak. Being that my room used to be a patio when we first bought the house (my parents had our neighbor, who's a carpenter, make it into a bedroom for me), I have a sliding glass door for the rest of the house and a door to the backyard. So instead of going through the rest of the house to use the bathroom, I did what any kid would and opened up the back door when I had to take a piss in the middle of the night.
Now mind you, I was half asleep and not fully aware of my surroundings. When I opened the door, I could have sworn I saw something, like an animal, dart inside my room all of the sudden, but I wasn't sure. I turned the lights on a looked, but saw nothing, so I finished taking a piss and went back to bed.
As I lay there trying to fall back to sleep, I kept thinking about it. I know I saw something. It couldn't have just been my eyes playing tricks on me. That's when I heard it: this scraping noise coming from underneath my bed, and what sounded like a very low hissing sound. This scared the shit out of me, so I jumped out of bed and ran into the living room to sleep on the couch.
My mom and dad woke me up the next morning and asked what I was doing sleeping on the couch. I told them what had happened and they followed me into my bedroom. My dad looked under my bed and said:
"You're not going to believe this, there's a raccoon under here."
My mom and dad weren't sure how to get the thing out from under there, so they called the animal control people to come out and take the thing. The next day my mom came and got me out of school early. My dad was there, and they both sounded worried, asking me if the raccoon had bitten or scratched me anywhere. They had already asked me these questions the day before, why would they be asking again?
It turns out, my mom had received a phone call from the animal control place informing her that the raccoon had been tested for rabies, and the test results were positive. The guy said the raccoon was suffering from the late stages of the disease, and it's a wonder I didn't get bit.
I had trouble sleeping in my room for a while after that, and needless to say, that was the last time I ever opened that back door in the middle of the night.
I don't remember the last time something like that happened to me. My house isn't ever dark enough to 'think' you see something..
TL;DR
I've never been scared in my life.
I looked at _____ That was a big scare for me.
