Got Bored and made this 
It is because they are already compiled and therefor you may not view them. In order to view you need the source but i know people who can take them apart but i do not know how. Just curious what .dll files are you trying to open because modifying them may cause damage.

DLL Comes up as Notepad
Can someone please help me, I was playing around with my computer like a dumbass and now my all my DLL's come up as notepad with symbols in them, please help me!

Change the filetype association back. It's in folder options. At least it used to be back in XP, can't find it anymore here on w7.
