Yo, I'm ClamPie...I reside 90% of my time on MPGH in the Crossfire section, as that's the only game that I play that's on this site...hehe.
I've tried my hand in making signatures pretty much ever since I had got my hands on a copy of PS:7 (old much?) way back. I learned alot about Photoshop via doing MANY MANY MANY tutorials, but I'm HELLA SURE that I have LOTS more to learn. So, I'm here for critiques!

This is my current Signature. Took about 2 hours, because Paint.Net has a lack of features and functions...I had to manually paint things red so I could REMOVE the white I had on the image so I could make it transparent and add my drop shadow...I also had to find and download a plugin that allowed the use of PS brushes, because Paint.Net has NO brush system integrated into it by default...

This (One below this text) was my older signature for MPGH...it came to be while I screwing around with some new plugins I had got for Paint.Net and it really has no composition at all... (I also don't like that font...-_-)

It actually gets a bit better from the top down, but your last one just doesnt hit it.
You don't have flow, perspective, lighting, depth, and the reule of thirds integrated in any of your signatures.
If you start of doing tags, or signatures without text, it's a lot easier to add text later on.

I should have mentioned that My newer stuff was at the top...

As for the rule of thirds, I know exactly what your saying...

[EDIT] Now if I still had Photoshop installed and were working on my own computer I'd have redid my current signature in it...PS is just plain better to use then Paint.Net by a long snipe...

Ehhh....maybe. But once you get the hang of it's features well...

I was in the middle of learning how to use the Pen Tool in Adobe Illustrator but my computer died on me...-_-

It has a lot more features than meet the eye.
It's not just brushes and clipping masks, after all.
