why is my ping so high

I got two programs to speed up my ping and i did pingtest and it was 28 then i played crossfire and it went from 100 to 1k and stayed around 500

wireless and my ISP is roadrunner and when im not running crossfire i have like 30 ping but when i do run it my comp gets around 200. so i think crossfire in slowing down my internet which i dont understand because i have a good computer o and i get 2/5 signal bars if that makes a difference

Go to a closer server.Internet Speed and the Location effect more.

UK is worst.He should try Alpha/Miami Server.

Ye, he should, but it's weird that got 18mb download test, and ~1mb upload and got 300 ping. He should have 2 ping. So let him try all servers.

Depends of your location, programs open on the game, etc...
Check everything and see if don't lower a lot your ping, or little...
