    When given this error, there are two possible problems;

    1. Your connection does not reach the host {The person who started the room} within the given time.

    2. The host {Person who started the room} has a slow connection and did not reach the server in time. - This is a one time or occasional problem.

    If you are given this error constantly, then it is likely your own connection.

    - Close any unnecessary programs when running the Crossfire client.

    - If more than one person uses your internet connection, Make sure that when you play, there is limited to no activity on their computers.

    - Switch to a wireless router

    - Switch internet service providers.

    - Use a Search engine website such as google and find how to "Optimize Internet Connection" There are several programs and tutorials, I'll allow you to see which you are most comfortable with.

    - Use a program to help optimize your entire computer such as;

    TuneUp Utilities 2010

    - Create your own room on crossfire, Making you the host, which may possibly help.

    As a side - I also read it could be your firewall or anti virus stopping it, Either disable these when playing, Or put Crossfire on your exceptions list.

    Good Luck!
