Animated Avatar

How do you guys make one?
I tried putting this as my avatar but it wasn't animated

Ok here's the problem;

Your picture there is too big to fit as an avatar.
The largest dimensions you can have for this site are 150 x 150 pixels, but that gif is 200 x 250

What might have happened is that the picture was downsized, and in the process lost its animation.
You could try making it smaller, that would probably work.
