Eh bro, THC(the stuff that gives you the high) is a chemical. Their is also lots more shit in weed also. But their is not a result on weed being cancerous, or seriously harmful to the body. Just respiration problems, and that's for people who have asthma and shit like that. And that's if you're smoking a shit load and your lungs can't handle it because of the problems you've got even without smoking.
