    [Canadians] Which university?

I was going to ask this somewhere else until I realized I was too fucking lazy to register to another service. Lol.

    Anyway:

I've read that SFU is better in regards to 'anything computer related.' But is not as good as UBC in 'regards to engineering science.' So what about computer engineering? So I don't have a lot of money for my education but I'm sort of betting on my Student Loan (IF I can get one, there could be some problems with that -- long story.)

So I'm just curious about which ones you've gone to. Also BCIT is an option but it's _really_ easy to get into and I can't find a computer engineering course, only 'electrical engineering' which isn't really specific to digital electronics and computer design & theory (which would be my main focus).

The fact is, I can glide straight into SFU no problem but I'm probably going to have to start working a little harder to get into UBC, both because I simply can't afford it, and, even if I do meet admission requirements, I probably need to compete with all the people who are clearly better than me.

I'm primarily looking for a school that would teach me a lot of the theory as well as how to solve practical problems. The reason I've decided to do computer engineering is because it's much more difficult to learn on your own than in a class, where as computer programming is something which can be self tought. Additionally, those who employ computer programmers are usually looking for experience and what you _can_ do; not what your post-secondary school says about your grade. I've read that as an officially uneducated programmer you can, with an impressive resume, out-compete those who've got a degree in university. This is not so in computer engineering though.

I'm looking for something that's more local (I live in surrey vancouver BC). I also want a good community and decent classes. I already meet all the requirements for SFU, but as a reference

    Chem: 92%-93%
    Phys: 89%
English: 75% (BS MARK BTW; it'll go up -_-)
Accounting: IDK but it doesn't really matter :/ The class is both disgustingly easy and disgustinbly useless. I've concluded buisness is a waste of time.

Calculus (NOT AP) I forecast at least 85%, but I am expecting around 90%.
    Math Same as above
Comp Prog. Useless class to be taking but probably atleast 90%
Work Exp. Is an easy 100%, all I have to do is stay employed, lol.

Actually, just for the record, who here is into any university chemistry programs, because I'm aslo really interested in chemistry(and I know I can't afford to do both) I'm just curious.

There are two types of tragedies in life. One is not getting what you want, the other is getting it.

If you wake up at a different time in a different place, could you wake up as a different person?

You're too lazy to register for another site yet you take the time to write all of this?

    Much luck with college, bro.

    Go to a technical school.

"Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed. This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children. The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals. It is some fifty miles of concrete pavement. We pay for a single fighter plane with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. This is, I repeat, the best way of life to be found on the road the world has been taking. This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense. Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron."
    - Dwight D. Eisenhower

I doubt you'll find many (if any) Canadians that can help you out. Though I'm interested on what might be suggested, I gotta apply next year. And I heard Oxford (UK) has great chem courses

I'm Canadian, but I'll be going to an American university for more advanced courses.
