Unless you know the ltb file structure and can program your own plugin / script, you can't.

You use my ltb to lta converter, and use the import plugin for the version of 3ds max you have.

Those are probably pretty old. The importing might work for most of the stuff, but the exporting probably won't get you too far, as I still haven't gotten around to working on it.
