Sandbox you make the world as you play, free-play is where you don't have to follow specifically to any guidelines.

Free Roam you Mean! Some Dev's call the Free Roam Games Sandbox because of the why it was Built and designed for example Crysis!

The term is sometimes used interchangeably with "sandbox" and "free-roaming"however, the terms open world and free-roaming describe the game environment itself and allude more to the absence of artificial barriers, in contrast to the invisible walls and loading screens that are common in linear level designs. The term sandbox refers more to the mechanics of a game and how, as in a physical sandbox, the user is entertained by his ability to play creatively, boundless of artificial structural constraints, and with there being "no right way" of playing the game.

I own Borderlands, Gets boring to fast and after you beat the game nothing to do, gets even more boring, + the DLC only lasts a day. I recomend minecraft. Crisis isn't really considered a sandbox game.. is it?

I guess it's considered a Sandbox Because of it's Open World Environment and being able to Interact with certain Object's more or less destroying them would make it a Sandbox Game!
