US use a nuke to end this war as soon as possible, as the reports of this time said it " They have awakened the sleeping giant " when USA was involved. But not to show the power they have to Russia ( if Russia want a nuclear war they have some nukes in stock), if Marines would have fought in Japan I think we could say 2 Vietnam not only one, and the cold war was a war with a lot of spies, liars, you can do that but I can do that too,... I honestly believe no they shouldn't of used it.That japanese were well aware that the USA had a raging hardon and were going to use a devastating weapon.But I guess in this world we live in we always got to experiment and see what will happen.I mean even when scientist were ready to fire up HARRP they thought it might cause a devastating effect,but in the name of science they did it.So no it wasn't justified to drop the bomb Japan was in talks to surrender soon.NWO won.
